What You Need to Know About the Moka Pot

What Is a Moka Pot?

A Moka pot is a coffee maker that brews coffee by passing pressurized steam through ground coffee.

It was invented in 1933 by Italian engineer Luigi Di Ponti. The inventor sold the patent for his creation to Alfonso Bialetti, an aluminum vendor.

Over time, the Italian Moka pot spread throughout Southern Europe and became the practical and standard way of making coffee at home. Non-Italian Southern European manufacturers also created new designs inspired by the original Italian model.
